Are you ok? Are we ok?
Overall, I’m ok.
I’m sitting in my room at my new-to-quarantine desk and comfy-enough desk chair, typing with my eyes closed while my head tilts toward the window, sunshine on my face. I love closing my eyes and sitting directly in a sunbeam.
It is a privilege that I’m ok right now because so many people are not.
Here’s what this blog is about: being a mom and a woman right now, being an athlete and trying to remain an athlete despite my body undergoing huge changes and aging posing some challenges. Part of being a mom and woman is considering what other moms and women are going through. Part of being an athlete is considering what other athletes are going through. My goals are to be free of judgment, to promote equality of all races and genders, and to support people’s goals. It is never my goal to hurt anyone’s feelings, but if feelings are hurt by my love for women of all races and my desire for equality for all, that is not something I can control.
So that’s it. I’m refreshed and writing, and time is carrying on, with or without our permission. This will be such a fascinating time to study someday after we’re all dead.
